"Living with Eternal Perspective"

Scripture Reading:
2 Corinthians 4:18 – "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (NIV)

Devotional Thought:
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to become consumed by what we see around us: the challenges we face, the pressures of daily life, and the material concerns that demand our attention. Yet, as followers of Christ, we are called to live with an eternal perspective.

Paul encourages us in 2 Corinthians to focus on what is unseen, the things of eternal value, rather than what is temporary. The struggles and distractions of this life can seem overwhelming at times, but they are fleeting. What truly matters are the things that will last forever—our relationship with God, the souls we touch, and the impact of our faithfulness.

Living with an eternal perspective shifts our priorities. It helps us to face trials with hope and to invest our time and energy in things that have lasting significance.

Reflection:
  • What aspects of your life are you focusing on that may be temporary or fleeting?
  • How can you shift your focus to the eternal things that matter most?
  • In what ways can you live today with an eternal perspective?
Prayer:
Lord,

Help me to fix my eyes on You and the eternal things that matter. Remind me that the struggles of this life are temporary, but the love I have for You and the work You have called me to do will last forever. Give me the strength to live with eternity in mind, trusting that the things I do for Your Kingdom will never fade away.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Closing Thought:
Every moment we spend living with an eternal perspective is a moment well-invested. Let us focus on what will last, and let that truth guide our actions today.
