Scripture: Mark 12:13-15 (NLT)
"Later the leaders sent some Pharisees and supporters of Herod to trap Jesus into saying something for which he could be arrested."
"Later the leaders sent some Pharisees and supporters of Herod to trap Jesus into saying something for which he could be arrested."
The Pharisees and Herodians approached Jesus, pretending to respect Him, but their hearts were set on trapping Him. Their flattery was deceptive, their motives impure. But Jesus saw through them. He knew that outward words mean nothing if the heart is far from God.
Today, let this be a reminder to examine our own hearts. Are we truly seeking God, or just going through the motions? Is our faith genuine, or are we more concerned with appearances? God desires a heart that is fully devoted to Him, not just words that sound righteous.
Reflection: Take a moment today to pray honestly before God. Ask Him to reveal any hidden motives in your heart and to help you live with sincere devotion.
