Bible Study for Sunday, February 16, 2025 – Loving as God Loves

Opening Scripture: Matthew 5:43-45 (NLT)

Study
Jesus calls His followers to a radical kind of love—one that extends beyond those who are easy to love. The world teaches us to love those who love us and hate our enemies, but Jesus commands something far greater. Loving our enemies is not about approving of their actions but about reflecting the character of God. When we pray for those who mistreat us, we allow God to work in our hearts, softening bitterness and replacing it with His love. God’s love is impartial—He provides sunshine and rain to both the righteous and the unrighteous. We, as His children, are called to mirror that same love in a world filled with division and hatred.

Reflection Questions
  • Why do you think Jesus commands us to love our enemies?
  • How can praying for those who hurt us change our hearts?
  • What is one practical way you can show love to someone who is difficult to love?
Prayer Focus
Ask God for the strength to love as He loves and to remove any bitterness or resentment in your heart.

Share Your Thoughts
Reflect on a time when you showed love in a difficult situation. How did God work through it?
