From the Heart of Brother Jesse – Tuesday, February 18, 2025 - The Power of Prayer for Our Enemies

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

One of the most difficult commands Jesus gives us is to pray for those who persecute us. When someone wrongs us, our natural reaction is to seek justice or even revenge. But Jesus calls us to something radically different—He calls us to intercede for them.

Why does He command this? Because prayer transforms hearts. It is hard to hate someone when you are praying for them. As we lift our enemies before the Lord, He softens our hearts, reminding us that they too are in need of His grace. Jesus Himself demonstrated this on the cross when He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). If our Lord could pray for those who crucified Him, how can we not do the same for those who hurt us?

Take a moment today to pray for someone who has wronged you. Ask God to bless them, not for their wrongdoing, but so that they may experience His transforming love. In doing so, you will not only obey Christ’s command but also experience the peace that comes from surrendering all things to God.

May the Lord strengthen your faith and use it for His glory, as you walk humbly in His presence.
