Bible Study for Sunday, February 9, 2025 – The Universal Condition of Humanity: All Have Sinned

Opening Scripture:
Romans 3:23 (NLT)
"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard."

Study:
In Romans 3:23, Paul lays the foundation of the gospel by addressing the universal reality of sin. Sin is not something that only affects a few, but it has touched every human being. The phrase "all have sinned" emphasizes the totality of sin's impact, affecting all people—no one is exempt. Sin is not just about bad behavior or wrongdoing but represents a deeper separation from God's perfect standard. As sinners, we are all in need of salvation, and our ability to meet God's holy and just standard is impossible on our own.

God's "glorious standard" represents His holiness and perfection, and falling short of it means we are incapable of attaining righteousness through our own efforts. This awareness of our sinfulness is vital, as it leads us to understand the depth of God's grace. Without recognizing our need, we cannot fully appreciate the gift of justification made available through Jesus Christ.
