Study
The first Sunday of Advent focuses on the hope that Christ’s birth brings into our lives. The promise of a Savior was given to the people of Israel in a time of great darkness. Isaiah declared that this Savior, born as a child, would bear the government on His shoulders and bring peace and justice to the world.
Hope is the foundation of Advent, and in Christ, that hope has been realized. As believers, we are invited to trust in the promise that God, in His faithfulness, would send a Savior to redeem His people. The names given to this Savior—Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace—reveal the depth and richness of the hope we have in Christ.

- How does knowing that Christ was promised as the Prince of Peace impact your view of the world today?
