I trust you had a blessed and enriching Sunday as we delved into the profound message of Romans 8:5-8. Today, I want to remind you of the critical lesson regarding "The Two Mindsets" that we discussed.
Romans 8:5 speaks of the stark contrast between those who are dominated by the sinful nature and those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit. The mindset of the flesh is consumed with worldly desires, leading to actions that are contrary to God's will. This mindset aligns with Aristotle's concept of the appetitive side of the soul, which seeks immediate gratification and earthly pleasures.
In contrast, the mindset of the Spirit seeks to please God, pursuing spiritual growth and godliness. This aligns with the contemplative side of the soul, aspiring for truth, wisdom, and virtue. As we start this new week, I encourage you to examine your own thoughts and priorities. Are they dominated by the flesh, or are they aligned with the Spirit?
Let us commit to nurturing a Spirit-led mindset through prayer, Scripture study, and engagement with our faith community. By doing so, we can live a life that pleases God and experiences the peace and fulfillment He offers.
