As we walk daily in our faith and face issues in our lives, we must always remember that the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, protect, strengthen and call you as His child. Because of the true grace of God and by standing firm in it, we are able to face tomorrow.

Mid-Week Message - No More Compromising
"Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'" John 14:6 (NLT)
When my daughter was still in high school, one of her classmates invited her to an outreach that his church was having. Directed toward young people, the hope was that those who were unchurched would be attracted enough to begin attending regularly. After the event, I picked them up and as I was taking the classmate home, I began asking how everything went. As it turns out, the night was comprised of performances by "Christian" rock bands, most of which were playing heavy metal music. Apparently, the music, coupled with the mosh pit, afforded an evening full of fun.
I would have been interested to know how many of those who attended this event actually came back for a church service. I still fail to understand how people can be drawn to Christ by being enticed through imitations of what the world offers. I have no problem with different genres of Christian music, but I do believe it is necessary to at least hear and understand the words that are being sung. And a mosh pit and body surfing? How is Jesus presented through that?
Across this nation, churches are being abandoned and boarded up. Many of those that remain open claim that attendance has been dropping. Fewer Americans believe that this country is a "Christian" nation. Jesus has become the punchline of jokes and those who choose to worship Him are touted as believing in fairy tales. By giving in to the demands for coffee bars and tickling the ears of attendees with "feel good" messages, we have lost our focus on our mission.
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gives this charge to His disciples, "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are to share Him with others. The Lord has gifted each of us with abilities and talents that will assist us in doing so. If you sing, worship Him in song. If you are an artist, then honor Him with your art. If you have the gift of hospitality, then open your home and share the Gospel with your visitors. If you can do public speaking, then openly declare Him. Maybe you have a deep love for children. Children are ready learners. Their hearts are open to the stories of the Bible.
We need to return to solid Bible teaching. I love listening to men of God speak the truth. It is rare these days to hear the honest rebuking of sin from the pulpit. Too many church leaders are afraid that people will be offended and leave the congregation. But if the true need for Jesus is exchanged for warm and fuzzy messages, then we fail to offer the need for forgiveness.
We are watching frightening changes in this country and around the world. The enemy must sit back and laugh as evil increases and fear grips the followers of Jesus. This must not continue. Christians need to be in earnest prayer and we need to stand up for what is right and true. The Gospel is desperately needed and we are the ones that hold it. But we need to be ready to speak it in truth which means that the world will likely not appreciate what we have to say. No more compromising. We have Jesus to show the way. God bless.

Sunday Praise & Worship Message - Selling our Soul for a Bowl of Stew
Esau, the eldest son of Isaac and Rebecca, had a birthright that entitled him to a double portion of his father's inheritance and the honor of leading the family. However, in a moment of hunger and desperation, Esau sold his birthright to his brother Jacob for a bowl of lentil stew. Esau's actions not only cost him his birthright but also set a precedent for a pattern of behavior that would be repeated throughout history. Just as Esau chose temporary satisfaction over long-term gain, so too have many individuals, communities, and even nations made choices that have led to the loss of their birthright. In America, we see a similar pattern of moral decay, a failure of the nuclear family, and a turning away from God. It is a warning that the choices we make today can have long-lasting consequences for future generations.
Esau's decision to trade his birthright for a bowl of soup was a costly mistake for him. He disregarded God's law and suffered the consequences. And yet, he is not the only one in history to make such a trade. In Romans 1:28-32 NLT, the apostle Paul describes a society that has turned away from God, a society that has chosen to indulge in sinful desires and practices. This passage describes a people who have exchanged the truth about God for a lie and have worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator. As a result, God has given them over to a depraved mind and to do what ought not to be done. The consequences of such a trade are dire, leading to all manner of evil and wickedness.

Mid-Week Message - This is the Day
"When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy." Psalm 94:19 (NIV)
How are your days going? Are you accomplishing what you wish to? Are you feeling so rushed that you don't have time to appreciate the smaller things? Are you thankful for what you are experiencing or do you wish you could either rewind or speed up the clock to get to a time that is more pleasant?
I have a good reason for asking these questions. According to a study by the Centers for Disease Control in 2019, approximately 2,854,838 people die per year in the United States. That works out to over 7,800 deaths per day. This represents hugs that were never given, birthdays that were never celebrated, holidays that weren't observed, graduates that never received a diploma, "I love you's" that were never spoken and last visits that were never made.
Overwhelming thoughts? Truly. As we approach Memorial Day, my mind is on those service men and women who never returned home to their families. They all had people they loved and that loved them. They all had plans for when their times of service were over. Many carried pictures of loved ones in their pockets and would pull them out to remind them of how much there was to live for. Yet, sadly, in any military conflict or war, there are those who make the ultimate sacrifice.
Perhaps someone in your family lost his or her life in battle. I know I am just one person, but I would like to let you know how much I appreciate what your loved one gave to enable this country to maintain its freedom. To say that I am grateful is far beyond an understatement. I know that those who are left behind suffer great grief and I pray for God's consolation to be with you.
Life is fleeting and, sadly, there are reminders of that around us everyday. Just by turning on the evening news we are reminded of that fact. This is why it is so important that we remember that each day we open our eyes is a new gift from the Lord. Each breath we take should be a reminder that He has a plan for each of us.
Psalm 118:24 tells us, "This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." On this day, as on every other day that we are gifted with, let us rejoice and find reasons to praise. As other people enter our lives, whether for a moment or a lifetime, let's love them with hearts that have been touched by His perfect love. In order to make the most of the time we have on earth, we need to keep our focus on things above, even though we may be experiencing pain, heartache or troubles in this earthly realm.
I pray that you will be enveloped in God's holy arms and that your eyes will be opened to the wonders that He has created for our enjoyment. No matter what you are going through, please remember that He loved you enough to send His Son for you. Life, as we know it now, is not forever. So, while we still have time, let's focus on that which is most important and allow Him to walk us through whatever difficulties we may have. God bless.

Sunday Praise & Worship Message - Faith Over Fear: David's Declaration of Trust
The author of Psalm 56 is David, the renowned king of Israel, and a man after God's own heart. David wrote many psalms throughout his life, expressing his deepest emotions and experiences.
In Psalm 56, David admits that he is afraid, but he doesn't let fear control him. Instead, he chooses to put his trust in God, saying, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." (Psalm 56:3) David's example encourages us to do the same, and to trust in God even when we are afraid. As we put our faith in God, we can overcome fear and find the strength and courage to face our challenges with confidence.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

Mid-Week Message - God's Great Love
"See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him." 1 John 3:1 (NLT)
Last week I was reminded of how intimately involved in my life my heavenly Father is. On Friday, I rose and prepared to meet a friend for coffee. As I was making the drive into town, a deer crossed my path. There are two creatures that I always look forward to seeing. One is deer and the other is cardinals. When I see them, I thank the Lord because I know that He knows they bless me and I assume they are little "I love yous" from Him. When I arrived at our meeting place, I had a small mishap. I walk with a cane and must have come across a slightly damp place on the floor. The cane slipped and I fell. I wasn't injured but I was instantly surrounded by people showering me with the love of God. One lady in particular spoke blessings over me and stayed with me until the incident was over. As we were leaving, an older gentleman opened the door for us and once again I found myself hearing of the depth of God's love. As he spoke, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was there at that time because the Lord wished him to be. I hugged him and thanked him and have been praying for him ever since. Then, as I drove home, a cardinal crossed in front of my car. I felt so overwhelmed because I knew that all that I had experienced that morning came directly from His throne room.I have learned so much about parenting through my relationship with the Lord. It thrills me to see my daughter smile and to know that her heart is happy. So it is in our relationship with our Father above. I believe that as He was creating the world, He chose to create things that would bring his children pleasure. There is so much beauty in nature. Each season brings new reasons to marvel. From individual snowflakes in the icy cold of winter, to the budding summer fruits, we are reminded of His artisanship. Can you picture Him smiling as he formed each plant and animal as He thought of the joy they would bring to us? That thought changes how I view what I see when I look out my window. Trees, flowers, birds, clouds, lightning and the rest of His creations remind me of His nearness, His gentleness and His power.
In 1975, a man named Kurt Kaiser took a phrase that he had heard someone say and wrote a beautiful song titled, "Oh, How He Loves You and Me." I'm sure you have heard it. If not, I encourage you to look it up and listen. The words are simple, yet so profound. It speaks of how much Holy God loves us. He loves us as individuals, not just as a collective group. He knows everything about us. Psalm 139 speaks of how involved He was with us before we were even born. It says, "You knit me together in my mother's womb." Think about that. He had His hand upon us as cell upon cell was formed. He already knew us by name and loved us before the world even knew we existed.
As we go through this week, let's spend some time pondering His presence and His desire for us to include Him in each and every moment. Then, let's keep our eyes and ears open so that we don't miss any of the "I love you's" He sends our way. Maybe the rose by the walkway just happened to grow there. Or, maybe He knew it would make you smile when you saw it so He made sure it was where you couldn't miss it. He loves you far more than enough to do that for you. Oh, how He loves you and me!
