Sunday Praise & Worship Message - Tough Love

As Hurricane Irma bears closer and closer to the United States, I have heard more and more people asking some very pointed questions. Those questions range from “why would God allow this to happen” to “where is your God now”. It is very difficult as a Christian to answer those questions without thinking about them for ourselves. People can easily answer questions when good things happen. Christians can easily respond, “Good things happen to God’s people, because He loves us.” Easy question. Easy answer. 

However, we need to understand that God will allow things to happen to discipline His children when we go astray. I am not saying that all bad situations are cases where we need discipline. Some situations are used as reminders of His power and might. Some are used as lessons that reinforce His commandments and His will in our lives. 

No matter what the situation is, there is one immutable fact. God loves His children very much. A father and mother who love their children want to see them grow up and develop into good men and women who will then foster good behavior and watch their offspring grow up into good, God-fearing men and women. God, like our parents, wants to develop us into righteous people. People who love, praise, worship and obey God and will do His will on earth and follow the teachings of His son, Christ Jesus.
